Welcome to The Land of Fire (and Music)! This blog focuses on Azerbaijan (also known as the land of fire) and its recent participation at the Eurovision Song Contest.
I first became interested in Azerbaijan after hearing about and watching the 1st European Games (similar to the Olympics) held in Baku. At the time, I knew that Azerbaijan was a country but did not know much about the culture, lifestyle, and history, so I saw the Games as an opportunity to learn more about the country and how it became what it is now.
As for the Eurovision Song Contest, I only first heard of it when my cousin from Australia brought it up during a conversation while he was visiting me. It seemed and still seems odd to me why Australia would participate in a European competition. I looked it up, and quickly became confused and fascinated by it.
This blog can be described of a mixture of the two, and I look forward to finding more about Azerbaijan and how they present themselves in Eurovision Song Contest.
